A Heaven Under the Magnifier

My hometown, Jinxiu Yao Autonomous Region, a remote and small county of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region.

This photo was taken during Qingming Festival. Seen from the top of the mountain, the place looks like a castle cutting off from the outside world. There is only a way out and in. This, however, creates its peace, quiet and purity.

PEOPLE
The total population of the county is 147, 300, and 34.4% of which is Yao minority, which can be divided into five kinds of yao according to the differences of their custom, living style and dresses etc.They are Pan Yao, Shanzi Yao, Ao Yao, Chashan Yao and Hualan Yao (See pictures at their introduction articles). Most of their houses are located at the places where surrounded by mountains, with an altitude between 1000m and 2000m.

TEMPERATURE
The total area of the county is about 2518 square kilometers, with 87.34% percentage of forest cover. Its average temperature is about 17℃. In Summer, many people living in the city would spend weekends there by driving their own cars.

TOURISM
Tourism: Mount Shengtang, Mount Lianhua, Mount Luohan; Shiba Jia, Drifting, Virgin Forest Resort, Yinsha Park (Yinsha:Cathaya argyrophylla), Meng Cun (a folk-custom village) etc. Local Products: Tea leaf, Star Anise Fruit, Bamboo shoot etc. (See detailed info. and pictures at their introduction articles)

Note: Qingming Festival is a day to offer a sacrifice to ancestors and sweep the ancestral tombs, usually starting from April 5th of each year.
